End of the Line

The Virginia and Truckee (V&T) Railroad, Nevada's first shortline was constructed to haul lumber, ore and other various supplies from Carson City to Virginia City for the Comstock Lode in 1870, soon after it was extended to Reno. This old section of track stores several decaying rail cars that sit exposed out in the open desert near Gold Hill, a suburb of Virginia City where some of the old abandoned Comstock mines still can be seen.
Photographed in 1997 using 35mm film.

On the news the other night on John Tyson's journal he had an episode about the Old Geiger Grade and mule teams ... then mentioned the railroad taking over as time moved on. I'd like to go exploring and find the road now.
